TREKKING 2 DAYS 1 NIGHT Chiang Mai - Thaton village. Northern route of Chiang Mai Highway No. 107. 175 kms. And Chiang Rai province. |
Day 1. At 8:00 a.m. we leave by mini-bus for Thaton. After about 30 minutes. We may stop to visit The Chiang Mai Orchid and Butterfly Farm. Alternatively, you may choose to visit Chiang Dao cave, a beautiful stalactite and stalagmite cave, 65 kilometers northwest of Chiang Mai. In addition to being of geological interest, there is also an impressive Burmese-style Buddhist Shrine. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. When we reach Thaton village. After an hour afterwards, we take a long-tail boat along the Kok river until we reach a White Karen hill-tribe village. Then we trek for about 2 hours to a Red Lahu hill-tribe village. Where we will have dinner and spend the night. |

Day 2. After breakfast. We leave on foot to an Akha hill-tribe village. Which we will reach after about 3-4 hours. Then we trek for an hour to a very beautiful waterfall where we will swim and relax before taking lunch at the forest reserve. Then we take an hour long elephant ride through the forest to the top of the mountain. Then hike for 30 minutes to an Akha village. Where we may choose to stop for drinks then we trek for 30 minutes to see a Shanese village. In late afternoon we will drive back to Chiang Mai via Chiang Rai by mini-bus visiting the Hot Spring on the way back. |
