TREKKING 3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS Chiang Mai - Chiang Dao - Phrao Northern route of Chiang Mai. Highway No. 107.80 kms. |
Day 1 At 8.00 we leave by mini-bus to drive for one hour to visit an elephant camp at Maesa to see the elephants doing their work routine. We see them performing a musical talent show and dancing, then a demonstration of how the elephants sleep, play football work with paint brush and easel. This elephants show has now been entered into the Guiness Book of records. After the visit we go to the local market at Mae Ma Lai. Here we can see the hill-tribe people of Lisu and Lahu selling their handicrafts. At the market we buy food for our dinner. Next we then drive to Chiang Dao cave, featuring spectacular stalactites and stalagmites. In addition to being of geological interest, this cave also features a Buddhist Shrine built in the classical Burmese style. Here we have lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, we drive for another 30 minutes to reach our trekking starting point. This is a 2 hours trek across lovely landscapes until we reach a White Karen hill-tribe village. Where we will have dinner and stay overnight. |

Day 2. After breakfast. We hike for 3 hours visiting Palong, Akha and Lisu villages. At one of which we will enjoy lunch afterwards, we go Elephant riding in the forest for an hour and take a trek for 2 hours to another Palong village. Where we will have dinner and stay overnight. |

Day 3. After breakfast. We hike to a Red Lahu and a White Karen hill-tribe village. Then drive for a another 30 minutes to go bamboo rafting along the Mae Ping river afterwards we will enjoy lunch at a local Thai restaurant On the way back to Chiang Mai. Then we will visit the Chiang Mai Orchid and Butterfly Farm.(There are over 1,500 varieties of orchids and 800 different kinds of butterflies from around Thailand) |
