Trekking in Chiang Mai

At 8:00 a.m. we leave by mini-bus to visit an elephant training camp to see how young elephants are specially trained for timber work in the jungle. This is followed by a one hour elephant ride in the mountains. We also visit the Lisu hill-tripe people in the vicinity. Next we go bamboo rafting for an hour along the Mae Ping River. We enjoy lunch on the way. Then visit the Orchid and Butterfly farm. (There are over 1,500 varieties of orchids and 800 different kinds of butterflies from around Thailand), afterwards returning to Chiang Mai.
